@francoisgfx the Manchester IMAX is linear polarization with 45° angles. still not as good as RealD by a longshot.

@UPSLynx RealD stereo is superior to IMAX 3D imho, yes. at least the “simple” polarisation they use at the Manchester IMAX.
also, I felt that transparencies worked better for some reason in IMAX 3D. I don’t really know why. RealD trans felt like I had to crosseye

those RealD breaking scenes tended to just shutter in IMAX 3D (if at all). more pleasant than the image suddenly splitting into left/right
but on the other hand. certain scenes would just completely break in RealD for me. like I literally saw both eyes as distinct images.
fast movements tended to “break apart” in IMAX 3D.
fast movements worked much better in RealD. not sure if it actually was just the IMAX stereoscopic or if the huge screen size plays into it.

interesting enough though: the stereo parts that didn’t work for me in RealD worked much better in IMAX 3D.
just came back from Avatar IMAX 3D. still great, even after the 3rd time. prefer the RealD version though from a stereo perspective.
