@chrisWhite thank you for a wonderful ride. As always it is hard to say goodbye at the end of a good story. #mistborn
@digitobe @spacesimon I am so annoyed with Maya since forever really, because it is an unusable piece of shit except in big pipelines.
@digitobe @spacesimon not only does the internal CC garble the color output, it also doesn’t obey the pass naming and outputs random strings
@spacesimon @digitobe good old gamma nodes and lens shaders here I come again sigh
@spacesimon @digitobe & we can’t use 2012 because it is not our pipeline, we are only delivering stuff. bangheadagainstwallsomemore
@digitobe @spacesimon nope. turns out it is the broken internal color management of Maya 2011. bangheadagainstwall
@digitobe nope, the old Mac Pro
@digitobe mental ray with a few passes enabled + two references. nothing fancy really.
problem: MayaBatch renders colorful noise in my EXR’s instead of the image it is supposed to. renderview renders work fine. solutions?
@spacesimon @neo_amiga yep, for post-attachable GPU goodness ;)
@NEO_AMiGA and a bit easier on the pocket as well.
@NEO_AMiGA but on the CPU side it is a total win. easily holds pace with my 8core 2.26GHz 12GM RAM Nehalem MacPro
@NEO_AMiGA …installed it yet. no time. don’t use it for gfx performance. only VNC into it and let it do server and CPU render tasks.
@NEO_AMiGA it is pretty much the standard Mini Server at the moment. 2GHz QuadCore, 8GB RAM. I have an SSD sitting here, but haven’t…
@marcoarment woot! Looking forward to it.
@spacesimon nope, just 8 at the moment. don’t really need any more for now. will upgrade it in 3-4 months or so
@spacesimon hehe, wish I had. no, it has a Drobo 2nd Gen attached via FireWire 800
The new Mac Mini Server is a little beast. 100W power usage and it nearly beats my Mac Pro into a pulp during Nuke renders. /me like
